Right Sizing the Wall

Last March, we finally executed on one of top wish list items for our house - right sizing the wall/doorway that separates our living room and kitchen. While the space was fairly open and the french doors added some character, they just didn't function. We thought it would be more beneficial to get some extra light from the bay window in our kitchen into our living room. The living room was always fairly dark despite having a large patio door, so we decided that expanding the opening by three feet and raising it another foot, we'd gain some much needed light from the kitchen. We had to move one electric outlet and patch the hardwood floors. The project materialized at the same time that we were quoting our bedroom hardwood floor project. Luckily our contractor, Fred's Flooring Pro, does all kinds of different work and was open to taking on the project and could patch the hardwood floors at the same time.
